Lead Frontend Developer (all genders / at least 30 hrs/week, ideally full-time)

Start date: preferably soon, flexible for the right candidate

Location: Vienna (hybrid). As a leadership role, youʼll spend some time in our centrally
located office to foster collaboration and culture. The remainder of your
schedule can be fully remote or flexible.

Weʼre looking for a Lead Frontend Developer to own UX quality and maintainability in
our frontend team and take it to the next level. A key focus of this role is to
improve the context in which the team operates, for example by establishing
shared components and patterns, and optimizing implementation processes. Alongside your technical work, you
will shape a team mindset that prioritizes quality, reliability, and
user-centered frontend development by default. Additionally, you will lead initiatives and
features from solution definition to delivery, helping us scale our delivery
processes in a way that consistently enhances quality.

Responsibilities of this role:

• Own UX quality, maintainability, and technical excellence of the frontend codebase.
• Establish and evolve shared frontend foundations that make high-quality implementations easier for the team (e.g. reusable component libraries, resilience patterns, UX patterns, error handling approaches).
• Guide and review frontend implementations with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and user experience.
• Lead initiatives and features end-to-end in close collaboration with product leadership and other engineering leads. Clarify goals, identify solutions, coordinate with designers when needed, distribute work effectively across the team, and ensure the implementation also works from a user perspective.
• Contribute hands-on where it creates the most impact, especially in complex or quality-critical areas.

Experience:

• 7+ years building complex, modern, user-facing frontend applications at production scale Several years leading technical frontend quality and team-wide UX practices - e.g. components, state-management, resilience patterns, automated testing, performance optimizations
• Several years leading initiatives or projects, including coordination and collaboration with product and design
• Experience understanding user needs, evaluating trade-offs, and identifying UX solutions Experience mentoring or coaching engineers is a plus
• Experience with Angular is a plus
• German language skills is a plus

For this role, the salary range starts from € 4350 gross/month (full-time), with
flexibility based on experience.
